Alexander Komlosi is the Leader of the Openings workshop. He is in charge of the project's organization and dramaturgy.
He has been Culture Current's Artistic Director since February 2022.
Alex completed his MFA and PhD at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Theatre Faculty). He has an interdisciplinary degree in Performance and Politics (B.A) from Bates College (USA).
Alex has been teaching (Inter)acting with Partner (IwIP) since 1999. He is the most experienced IwIP practitioner and teacher in Finland. He has taught courses and workshops internationally (Columbia University, New York University, Yale University, Rose Bruford College, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) and in Finland (University of Arts Helsinki – Department of Drama Pedagogy, Swedish-speaking Acting, Dance, Open University, Tampere University - Näty), and the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki.
He developed the "performative well-being" concept and coursework as part of a Finnish Cultural Foundation year-long post-doc grant at the Performing Arts Research Center (TUTKE) in 2017-8. His research has focused on performance and well-being, improvisation, and movement (physical) theatre.
